The Water Industry Operations Association of Queensland is bringing their annual conference and exhibition to the Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre on June 24, 2026. It is basically two days of water nerds getting together to talk shop, which sounds dry but is actually quite the opposite. There will be operator led paper presentations and poster sessions where people who actually do the work can share what they have learned, and if you are brave enough to present for the first time, nobody will judge you because the whole thing is designed to be friendly and welcoming. The main point is to pick up tips and tricks you can actually use on the job, not just sit through a lot of theoretical waffle.

If you decide to go, you should probably think about how you are getting there. Public transport and active travel are encouraged, which is a fancy way of saying you might want to walk or catch a bus, so check the Translink journey planner. Parking might be a bit tight, so if you do drive, you can use the EasyPark app to manage metered parking from your phone and avoid getting a fine, which is always a nice bonus. It is a pretty straightforward event for people who keep the water flowing, and you will probably run into some familiar faces if you are in the industry.
