If your child has ever looked at a clean shirt and thought, "that's a challenge," then this messy play session is for them. On Tuesday the 23rd of June 2026, Gumtree Kids is taking over Historic Rivermill for a sensory adventure called All of Our Animal Friends. We're talking taste safe squishy stuff, animal inspired play stations, and enough colour and texture to make a rainbow jealous. It's aimed at kids aged six months to five years, and yes, adult supervision is required because someone has to make sure the baby doesn't try to eat the play dough like it's a gourmet meal. The whole thing happens outdoors in a relaxed hinterland setting, surrounded by gardens, paddocks, and actual animals, so you get to feel like you're on a country escape while your little one turns into a Jackson Pollock painting.

Historic Rivermill is about 30 minutes from the Gold Coast, which is an easy drive if you time it right and avoid the school drop off chaos. Parking might be tight, so consider using public transport or the EasyPark app to avoid a fine that would ruin your relaxed vibe. You'll also want to bring a change of clothes, a towel or wipes, a water bottle, a hat, and sunscreen because the Australian sun doesn't care about your good intentions. Basically, come prepared for mess and leave with a memory and possibly a few patches of dried play dough in your car. It's just a fun, hands on morning outdoors no marketing spin required.
