Melissa Western and her Trio are doing a thing on Tuesday the 16th of June, 2026, somewhere in or near the Gold Coast. Doors open at 6pm, the music starts at 7pm, and there's a bar and bistro if you need a snack to get you through. She's been around for twenty years making a name for herself in jazz, cabaret, and theatre, which is a fancy way of saying she sings, tells stories, and probably uses dramatic hand gestures. Her one woman show about Ella, Marilyn, and Marlene sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe two years running, which is impressive for someone who also wrote a cabaret about pregnancy and having kids called Push It. That's not a euphemism, it's literally about childbirth.
Her other show Sweet, Sour and Saucy got five star reviews and was called a "force of nature" by Broadway Baby, which sounds like a compliment unless you're a tornado. She's also done stuff with Women in Voice and toured all over the place. So if you want to hear someone who can weave a song and a story without getting tangled up, this is your chance. To book, phone or text Keryn on 0419 658 983 or Dianne on 0402 895 008. The Gold Coast City Jazz Club is hosting it, and they normally do these gigs twice a month, so it's not a one off. Get there by public transport if you can, because parking might be tight and you'll need the EasyPark app for metered spots. Or just walk if you live close. No pressure.
