What makes a great camping holiday? A shady campsite? A picturesque spot by the water? A great camp kitchen? Lots of activities for the kids? A relaxing pool? Artificial grass sites? Buckets of birdlife? Some fish? Modern facilities? Some of these? All of these?
Tweed Billabong Holiday Park is located on the coastal border between NSW and QLD. It is an easy 20 mins from the Gold Coast and an hour south of Brisbane. With a fabulous kids' playground and a breezy, lakeside location, this holiday park offers competitive rates and large campsites. It is not a new park, however, it has been renovated and maintained to a lovely standard. The pool is spacious and the separate waterpark offers great areas for the tiny tots as well as primary school children.
The camp kitchen overhangs the lagoon. It is accompanied by a television room and adjacent to the coffee van/shed which closes at 2 pm each day. This cafe provides basic sweets and treats, coffees and milkshakes, and some quaint breakfast items. If you are looking for a more substantive meal, a number of vending vans are brought on-site to serve a range of different meals. We had a fancy fish and burger van onsite while we were there and the food seemed very popular with holidaymakers.
The onsite cabins are trendy and spacious. Most are tucked beneath the shade of generous paperbark trees. There are stand-up paddleboards and kayaks available to spend your time floating around in style. The treehouse-style children's playground complete with awesome fairy lights is a winner with the kids. The park is clean and spacious and is located close to beautiful beaches, boat ramps, and great bike paths.
Powered sites are roughly $500 for four nights. Cabins can be quite pricey but that seems to be the norm these days. This is clearly a park where the owners are invested in repeat business and focused on maintaining clean and renovated facilities. My recommendation would be that this is a four-night stay kind of place.
