Play centres are good. Mcdonald's has its place. Picnics are fun. Taking kids to fancy restaurants can be a challenge. Yet, sometimes parents need a place where they can adult, eat adult food, and have adult conversations, while their children play on the lawn.
Sarabah Estate Vineyard is that place. This is a stunning landscape, tucked away at the end of a long and windy dirt road. The destination comes highly awarded in the foodie world. As you drive in, you will think you are the only person there. We did ....... until the gates appear and you drive down the tree-lined driveway to the Chalet that awaits. There will be cars in the carpark. There always is.
My kids and I only recently stumbled across this piece of perfection and serenity. Sarabah Estate has the sweetest dam on its doorstep, complete with a jetty and ducks, low-hanging trees and a quaint birdhouse or two swinging from the branches. The vines are spread out around the Chalet and dam and tucked neatly behind the Olive Grove. In the distance, the owner's mansion stands tall, watching over proceedings, and making you feel you have just stepped off an international flight. There is even a secret garden at the doorstep. The kids will love the thrill of exploring all the nooks, and hideyholes this destination has to offer. Two white chickens will welcome you to the estate and more than likely, you will find a dog or two with their owners on the lawn. Yes, it's a pet-friendly location.
Let's talk pizza and bonfires. This is a big fire pit. These are big pizzas. There are good pizzas. These pizzas allow you to feast in Italy without boarding that international flight. Grab a pizza or three and then take a seat under the stars around the generous fire pit, located within arm's reach from the bar. If pizza isn't your thing, the tasting plates and ala carte menu are very reasonably priced yet classy. At Sarabah, it is possible to feed the kids and yourself without a chicken nugget or deep-fried potato chip invading the evening.
In case you were wondering, there is wine tasting and super delightful adult beverages for those weekends when you may be kid-free. Yet this isn't a place where you need to be kid free to really live it up. The kids love the space and the chickens and the room to move. The adults love the food and the coffee and the sweet indulgences. The vineyards themselves are beautiful against the rural Australian tones in the backyard. You will even catch a glimpse of kangaroos on your way in the drive as the area is filled with them. My kids thought this was a huge selling point.
Saranbah also produces and distributes its own
body products and pamper treats . There is a lot to take in and the key word is indulgent. Located at 46 Rymera Rd, Sarabah, QLD 4275, this is a pleasant hour's drive from the Gold Coast. You could even stop in at the O'Reillys Alpaca Farm just up the road and make a real day of it. Whatever you do, make sure your phone is fully charged as your photos will be beautiful. It's hard to take a bad photo in this region. Enjoy!
