On 9 July 2025, near the Gold Coast, there's an event called NaturallyGC Kids Little Ecologists. It's a free guided wander for those curious about what it takes to be an ecologist, delving into the lives of the animals who call Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area home. We'll be meandering through the wetlands, on the lookout for some of the more reclusive residents, like koalas who are excellent at hide and seek. There's even a scavenger hunt to keep little eyes peeled, plus a chance to see some of the nocturnal antics captured by our infrared fauna cameras, because some critters prefer to work the night shift.

This outing is best suited for aspiring naturalists aged 6 to 10, and their supervising grown ups are asked to keep a watchful eye on them at all times. The walk is roughly one kilometre return, so it's not really pram friendly, and tiny tots might find it a bit far for their little legs. It's an outdoor affair, naturally, so come prepared for whatever the Gold Coast weather decides to do. More precise location details will be waiting for you in the email confirmation, so be sure to scroll down. Just a heads up, they can't accommodate large group bookings or vacation care mobs for this one. Oh, and everyone attending, big or small, needs their own ticket. If you can't get all the tickets you need at the time of booking, it's best not to book, as there's a maximum number of participants, and please don't try to book children on adult tickets, it makes the admin folk a bit dizzy.
