is on July 8, 2025. It's all about how First Nations people have lived on this continent for over 60,000 years, managing to survive quite well using what nature provided, long before anyone dreamt of a supermarket or online shopping. You'll get to wander through the Botanic Gardens and uncover which plants served as the original pantry items, toolkits, and first aid kits. There's also a chance to sample some bush tucker, so prepare your taste buds for something a bit different from your usual snack. For those feeling crafty, you can even try weaving with Lomandra leaves and see if you have the knack.

Do wear some proper closed-in shoes, a hat to shield your noggin from the sun, and bring a water bottle; nobody enjoys a parched kid. This session is designed for the 5 to 12 year old crew, but parents and carers are more than welcome to join in, perhaps to make sure no one eats all the bush tucker. Head over to the Rotary Education Pavilion to kick things off. Getting there might require a bit of forethought; public transport is often a good shout if you're keen to sidestep any carpark dramas. Parking can be a bit scarce, and for metered spots, the EasyPark app is your best bet to avoid an unpleasant chat with the parking enforcement folk.
